Rolling out a proposed new 12 sided one pound coin in Britain could cost the vending machine industry over £125 million. Automatic Vending Association (AVA) CEO Jonathan Hilder, suggests equipment retrofitting and related costs for the new coin could be four to five times the 2012 upgrade for the new five and ten pence coins. In addition to affecting around one million vending machines in Britain, operators of transport ticket machines, self service supermarket tills and supermarket trolleys will be impacted.
